My handmade books are just that - handmade by me, the artist - Cherie Gerhardt. Each book is not only unique in its creation, but to its bearer as well. Those who acquire my books use them for many different purposes, whether it be a prayer book, journal, guest book, memory book or spell book.   This little book is well made and the pictures of the handmade books are beautiful. However, if you already own Lark Books Handmade Books, don't buy this one. It is a smaller compilation of the pieces from that book. I was rather disappointed as I paged through and saw art books I'd seen in another volume/5(16).

Making handmade books is such a creatively satisfying experience. What makes them truly unique are the extras—distinctive folds that become pockets, a touch of metal on a spine, or decorated pages that reveal an artist’s life. These 10 techniques for special touches for handmade books will make your next project stand out and reflect your style and creativity. She brings all sorts of book making supplies into play, adding paper and art journaling supplies to the background for a skinny book that truly tells the tale. She also shares her tips for creating handmade art books on a busy schedule. Create your own skinny book pages and get your doodle on with this lighthearted approach to handmade paper books.

The term book arts encompasses an endless variety of books, usually handmade or produced in a limited edition. Included are all kinds of artists’ books, ezines, graphic novels, printed ephemera, and “other experimental forms of publication.” (Doesn’t that sound interesting?). A numbered edition is a limited edition where the total number of copies in the print run is notated on the book.

This is usually written as the current number over the total number in the printing (ie: “This book is copy number 54/”). A lettered edition is the same as a numbered edition except with letters.
